Did you know that

We buy our flowers directly at the flower auction in Holland, and select only those flowers that are grown by the best Dutch nurseries. Of every flower we buy, we know exactly from which nursery it comes. The nurseries we’ve selected guarantee top quality, energy efficient and eco friendly grown products.
We always have a large range of single stemmed flowers in stock and have bouquets and arrangements on display, ready to take. And if they don’t meet your requirements, we make you something else, on the spot.
Since the opening of our shop in September 2006, we’ve build up a reputation, not only for our flowers, bouquets and arrangements but the also for the originality and personal approach in our funeral arrangements, our wedding arrangements and also in our workshops.

Last but not least: the houseplants. Dutch Quality Flowers offers an amazing range of houseplants with or without matching pots, all year round, suitable for any household, public building or private office. In the last decade concerns have risen about our carbon footprint. A large number of growers in Holland have taken action to do their bit to solve the problem. Two major developments have taken place in the last few years:.

75% of all Dutch household waste is burned in an incinerator near Rotterdam. To reduce the CO2 emission from this plant, the Dutch have build a pipeline grid that transports the CO2 to the greenhouses in the main agricultural area called 'the Westland'. More than 150 greenhouses are now connected to this grid. By pumping the CO2 into the greenhouses, the crops grow twice as fast. The result is that each crop needs half the energy from a 'normal' greenhouse and these 150 greenhouses 'consume' miljons of tons of CO2 per year..

A number of growers have found an other solution. They've each build a socalled Heatretaining Plant in their greenhouse. In the summer they let the sun heat enormous amounts of water (temperatures in the greenhouse can go up to 50 degrees Celsius) and store this deep into the ground. In winter they release the heat by pumping the water up. This enables them to warm the greenhouses during the winter, but also to transform the heat into electricity by the use of generators. These greenhouses have become so efficient that they now even return electrity back to the national grid and most recently a group op 30 growers have signed a contract for supplying electricity to 1500 new houses.
